Event Details

The Africa Business Forum 2010 will be held in London on 21st - 22nd June prior to the 36th G8 Summit in Canada.  It will be chaired by Pascal Dozie, Chairman of Diamond Bank Advisory Board and the Commonwealth Business Council (CBC).

The central theme of the 2010 Forum will be New Economic Prospects for Africa Post Financial Crisis. In 2010, over 15 African countries celebrate their 50th anniversaries of independence and the World Cup comes to South Africa.  At the same time, several of Africa’s most persistent challenges remain to be addressed, including the infrastructure deficit.   Countries have been affected by the international financial crisis, but many have weathered the storm better than expected. New Investment is being attracted by oil and gas finds as well as revived interest in the untapped potential of agriculture development. Telecom continues to expand rapidly.

The transition to a post-crisis world presents a unique opportunity to rethink the roadmap for Africa’s future. Much will depend on how Africa positions itself, at home and abroad, as the rules governing global cooperation and financial architecture are redesigned.

The Forum will address how business and government can best address the challenge of redesigning a sustainable growth strategy for Africa in the new global economic environment. It will focus on the practical partnerships which business is taking on job creation, enterprise, trade, investment and good governance across the continent, and discuss how we can strengthen capital flows and trade.
